MLB strikeout props for 5/9: Jump on this under

Woof. That's an 0-3 night in strikeout props on Wednesday to offset the 3-0 night we had to start the week. No worries. We plan on bouncing right back with three more K props for Thursday's shortened MLB slate.

Hunter Greene under 6.5 Ks (-110 DraftKings)

Diamondbacks at Reds, 1:10 p.m. ET

Hunter Greene is a scary pitcher to fade in strikeout props because of how hard he throws the ball, but the Arizona Diamondbacks won't be intimidated by his stuff. Arizona has the third-lowest strikeout rate, the second-lowest whiff rate and the second-highest zone contact rate in MLB this season. Greene has faced only two teams that rank inside the top 10 in strikeout rate, and he went under 6.5 Ks in both of those matchups. This is the best lineup he's seen yet in terms of putting the ball in play.

Keaton Winn over 4.5 Ks (-110 DK)

Giants at Rockies, 3:10 p.m. ET

We're a little scared about how much we love this play. Keaton Winn is nowhere near an elite strikeout artist, but he is extremely effective at getting opposing hitters to chase pitches out of the zone. The San Francisco Giants starter ranks in the 92nd percentile in chase rate this season. Well, the Colorado Rockies have the second-highest chase rate, the second-lowest chase contact rate and the second-highest whiff rate in MLB this year. This couldn't be a better matchup for Winn to rack up some Ks.

Reid Detmers under 5.5 Ks (-136 FanDuel)

Royals at Angels, 9:38 p.m. ET

Reid Detmers got off to a hot start this season with seven, 12 and seven strikeouts in his first three starts, but two of those games came against the strikeout-prone Boston Red Sox. Since then, the Los Angeles Angels left-hander has recorded four or fewer Ks in three of his last four starts. Now he has to face a Kansas City Royals lineup that has the second-lowest strikeout rate and the highest chase contact rate in the league. The Royals also have the second-fewest Ks against lefties this year. Detmers has a strikeout rate of just 19.4 percent against current Royals hitters, so this is a good spot for an under.
