Cowboys Day 2 NFL mock draft: Team makes the most of newest third round selection
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Cowboys kicked off the NFL Draft with a strong choice by taking Tyler Guyton with the 29th overall pick and netting an additional third round pick with their trade with the Detroit Lions. However, there are still so many pressing needs to address.

After a quiet free agency, Friday could be the day where the Cowboys change the narrative by stealing a couple of additional starters or significant contributors. It's easier said than done, however.

Now we look on to Day 2 and what better way to do it with a second and third round mock draft using PFF's simulator!

Round 2, Pick 56th: LB Edgerrin Cooper, Texas A&M

Jerry Jones straight up raved about RB Jonathon Brooks while fielding a question about the running back's health but in this scenario, he's gone to the New Orleans Saints at 45th.

The Cowboys still address a top need by taking the athletic Edgerrin Cooper, who makes up with speed and ranginess what he lacks in size.

Round 3, Pick 73rd: iOL Cooper Beebe, Kansas State

The Cowboys didn't rule out double-dipping at offensive line and adding Beebe gives them a potential center if they get him snapping the ball efficiently. In the third round, Beebe could be a major steal by Dallas.

He'd be in a competition with Brock Hoffman for the starting role at center.

Round 3, Pick 87th: ED Bralen Trice, Washington

Don't underestimate the need for an edge rusher the Cowboys have: They're almost entirely wiped out at running back in this scenario but this front office is building for the future. They get value in Trice here.

DeMarcus Lawrence will hit free agency in 2025 and Sam Williams is the only backup on the EDGE room with experience.
