Why there's still hope for Browns at pick No. 74

The Browns aren't scheduled to make their first selection in the 2023 NFL Draft until pick No. 74, in the third round. However, that doesn't mean they can't find good players.

Of course, it will be no easy task in finding gems in the later rounds of the draft, but it is possible. There have been many players who have been drafted at pick No. 74 that made a notable impact in the NFL, including four Hall of Famers.

Those four players are offensive guard Will Shields, running back Curtis Martin, tight end Charlie Sanders and safety Larry Wilson. There could soon be a fifth Hall of Famer on the list in wide receiver Steve Smith.

Cleveland may not have any picks in the first or second rounds of the draft, but it still has eight selections overall, giving it multiple chances at finding those gems.

Some notable names to watch for the Browns are Tennessee WR Jalin Hyatt, Clemson LB Trenton Simpson and Auburn RB Tank Bigsby.

Hyatt, who ranks as Pro Football Focus' No. 77 overall prospect on its big board, has continued to rise on draft boards, which may put him out of range for the Browns. Simpson ranks No. 78, but has been projected as high as a first rounder. Bigsby, who ranks No. 86, would be a nice compliment to RB Nick Chubb.

Either way, general manager Andrew Berry has put Cleveland's roster in a good spot heading into the draft, allowing the team go with a best-player-available approach.
