Dallas Stars president of hockey operations and general manager Jim Nill announced Monday that the club has signed goaltender Ben Kraws to a one-year, entry-level contract beginning in the 2024-25 season.

The 6-foot-5 goaltender is capping off a great run with St. Lawrence University that saw him help lead the Skating Saints on a miraculous run through the ECAC conference tournament before losing the final to Cornell. Kraws put together a 14-17-6 record to go with two shutouts, a .919 save percentage and 2.49 goals-against average through 37 games. Kraws was named a Hobey Baker candidate for the NCAA’s Top Collegiate Player after a breakout year.

Last season, Kraws was backup at Arizona State for a second consecutive season and compiled a 3-0 record. The year before that, he put up a 12-11-1 record in 27 starts. Prior to transferring to Arizona State, Kraus spent two seasons with Miami University (Ohio). Throughout his NCAA tenure, the New Jersey product compiled a 30-41-9 record, a .906 save percentage and a 2.98 goals-against average in 89 regular season games over the course of five years with Miami, Arizona State and St. Lawrence.

Kraus opted for the NCAA but was drafted by the Niagara Ice Dogs of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) in the 2017 OHL Priority Selection Draft. Kraus spent parts of two seasons with the Buffalo Jr. Sabres of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) before heading off to play for the Sioux City Musketeers in the United States Hockey League (USHL). During his time in Sioux City, Kraus compiled a 20-29-9 record, three shutouts and a .895 save percentage through 69 games.

Over the last couple of weeks, Dallas has remained busy signing NCAA free agents, they have inked Luke Krys, Justin Hryckowian and now Ben Kraws. Kraws will likely sign an ATO with the Stars’ American Hockey League (AHL) Texas Stars to round out the remainder of the season.

Texas currently ranks fourth in the Central Division with a 29-27-4-2 record and 64 points through 62 games. The Stars have 10 games remaining this season.
