AC Milan consistently scout the market for opportunities, and this summer, an opportunity too good to turn down could arise in the form of Khephren Thuram. The Frenchman’s contract expires in the summer of 2025, and the Rossoneri are interested in the prospect of signing him this summer for several reasons.

Whilst the main points of focus in the upcoming mercato will be a striker and central defender, making signings in other areas cannot be ruled out. Especially when opportunities arise that are too good to ignore.

An example of this could be Thuram – the Frenchman’s contract expires at the end of next season, and he could fill a void for Milan now and in the future. MilanNews writes he could be available for €40 million this summer. However, due to his contract situation, this figure could be discounted.

Furthermore, his demands are not likely to be extortionate because he earns under €500,000 annually at Nice. Therefore, it would be imagined that if he were to be a target, his demands would not be extortionately high.

The biggest reason for the Rossoneri’s interest, though, is how good he is. The Frenchman is comfortable playing in a two or three-man midfield, and Milan could return to a midfield three as we explored in a recent feature.

His versatility extends to his style of play. He is a very intelligent player, and whilst he does not often score, his passing ability is highly rated, which means he can play in a role with offensive needs.

Alternatively, he can also play a more defensive-focused role, again, due to his intelligence. One of his former coaches stated that his positioning was exceptional, which meant he didn’t need to run as much because he always knew where to be.

Several teams are interested in Thuram, most notably Manchester United, Liverpool and Juventus. Additionally, Inter are keeping a keen eye on his situation. As a result, Milan will have to act quickly if they want to pursue their interest successfully.
